Constraints in this sector

What holds the operation back, and what the operation does about it.

On the left, what this house has working against it. On the right, what King Laundry does about each one — and what it does not yet do.

  • Housekeeping waiting on linen that has not come back yet

The pass is set for the hour housekeeping needs the linen, and it sits in the calendar

  • Items out of rotation through stains or wear, with no spare set

The spare set is kept and managed at the plant, and leaves when the hotel asks for it

  • A linen room doing duty as a warehouse and still short for tomorrow

Textile out of rotation leaves the linen room for Loulé and comes back on the next pass

How it works in this sector

A full hotel puts bed linen, towels and uniforms through the wash every day, and housekeeping always works with the next set already in the building. That daily sum is what a textile contract has to balance.

The Loulé plant handles more than two tonnes of textile a day and runs more than five vehicles on the round. How often we collect is agreed with the hotel and fixed in the calendar, and the linen comes back 24 hours after it leaves. Urgent work comes back sooner.

Textile that is out of rotation stays stored and managed at the plant, and comes out when the hotel calls for it. Bed, bath and staff uniforms all travel on the same round.
