King Laundry works out of its own plant in Loulé, in the Algarve. That is where the collection vehicles leave from, and where the textiles come back to be washed and prepared.
More than five vans run the circuit and the plant handles over two tonnes of textile a day. Hotels get delivery in 24 hours; short-term rentals and table linen, 24 to 48; uniforms, up to 72. Urgent jobs, faster.

The equipment
The ironer is why hotels get delivery in 24 hours.
A laundry that presses piece by piece cannot close a full hotel’s daily count. Industrial capacity can, and that is what the Loulé plant runs.
- Four-metre ironer with folding
- It presses and folds in the same pass. Four metres of working width take double sheets flat, without folding them in half to fit.
- 120 sheets pressed per hour
- That is the ironer’s rate in normal running. It is the number that decides whether the morning shift has its linen in time.
- High-capacity machines
- Industrial washing and drying, sized to a hotel’s volume rather than a household’s. That is what absorbs the weekend peak instead of pushing it into the next week.
The products
Linen lasts twice as long when it is treated properly.
We wash with enzymatic, biodegradable products, dosed to the type of stain and to the fabric. The enzyme attacks the stain; the right dose is what stops it attacking the fibre as well.
The maths shows up in the linen room: an ordinary bedding set washed without enzymatic products and dosed by eye lasts one summer. The same set treated properly lasts two. Anyone buying textile every year is already paying that difference.
It is why a contract’s price should be compared with the textile it saves, not only with a price per kilo.
What the plant does with the textiles
The round is built around the hours of whoever hires it.
There is no fixed route for clients to fit into. There is a calendar per client, and that is what sets the hour the van comes by.
- Scheduled, tailored collection
- Frequency and time are agreed with each house and go in the calendar.
- Storage between uses
- Textiles out of rotation are stored and managed at the plant, and come out when the house asks for them.
- Handled separately
- Delicate fabrics, technical fabrics and uniforms with requirements of their own do not go through the same treatment as the rest.
- Products and equipment
- We wash with enzymatic, biodegradable products in high-capacity industrial equipment.
